BANGOR, Maine – Despite leading the Terriers (3-2, 2-0 NAC) twice throughout the conference matchup on Tuesday evening, Husson field hockey (8-8, 1-1 NAC) came up short by one goal, 3-2, to Thomas College (Maine) at Bernatchez Field.

The Eagles struck first in the 14th minute on a goal by Haley Ward for her 7th of the season to put Husson up 1-0. The Terriers answered back in the 24th, with a goal by Britney Gregoire to make it 1-1 at the half.

Husson retook the lead in the 48th minute, with Mercedes Pease making it 2-1. Thomas tied it again nearly ten minutes later on a Lindsey Gregoire goal that brought the score to 2-2. Haley Thebarge broke the tie, scoring the game-winner with under 11 minutes to go on a penalty stroke to give Thomas the 3-2 win.

In net, Andrea Shaggy turned down seven shots for the Eagles while her opponent Leah Kruse picked up five saves.

Thomas outshot Husson, 24-8, and had a clear advantage from the penalty corner, 11-2.

The Eagles will have an extensive rest break of ten days off before facing the Terriers for a rematch, but on Husson's home turf at Winkin Sports Complex for an evening match at 6:00 p.m. for senior day and homecoming.
