Field Hockey Drops Match to Monks

STANDISH, Maine-Husson field hockey (0-3) toppled to Saint Joseph's (Maine) (5-0) on the road, 7-0, on Wednesday evening in a non-conference match. 


The Monks opened the game scoring in the ninth minute when senior Arianna Kahler netted her first of two goals on the evening. Saint Joseph's (Maine) took full advantage of penalty corners crediting five goals following calls on Husson. 

Senior Kayla Veilleux contributed a pair of goals and an assist on the night while three other players found the back of the net for the Monks. 

Helping out Husson defensively, seniors Allison Leighton and Arika Brochu both stepped back to cover the net on shots picking up defensive saves. 


Sophomore Andrea Shaggy stopped 12 shots in net for the Eagles, while Brochu was the lone Eagle to send a shot towards senior Megan Baker between the posts for Saint Joseph's (Maine). 


The Monks held the edge in shots on goal, 22-1.


The Eagles will continue their trek on the road with a match at Springfield on Saturday, September 15th with an 11:00 am start.
