BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University Eagles (21-14, 10-4 NAC) swept the University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls (1-30, 0-14 NAC) during a Sunday morning North Atlantic Conference (NAC) baseball doubleheader at the Harold Alfond Diamond at the Dr. John W. GAME ONE - HUSSON 8, UMAINE-PRESQUE ISLE 6

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Eagles struck first in the top of the second when Michael Schneider singled to centerfield, plating Alex Chapman with the game's first run. The Owls responded quickly with a four spot in the bottom half of the inning to give them a 4-1 advantage thanks to back-to-back two-run doubles by Justin Mason and Bard Patterson.

The Eagles were down, but not out, as they were fueled by a seven-run top of the fourth to turn the game around to an 8-4 Husson advantage. Luke Covey begin the inning by doubling to left center before advancing to third on a Chapman double to right field and then they both scored on back-to-back singles by Nolan Brown and Nick Guerrette cutting the Owl lead to one. After Guerrette and Brown moved up a base off a pass ball, Conor Maguire was intentionally walked to load the bases for Kobe Rogerson. Rogerson then ripped an RBI single to right field sending Brown home with the game tying run. With the bases full of Eagles, David LeBlanc was issued a four-pitch walk, allowing Guerrette to walk home safely with the go ahead run. After a pitching change, Ethan Stoddard stepped up to the plate and blasted a bases clearing double to left field as LeBlanc, Rogerson and Maguire all scored giving Husson an 8-4 advantage.

The Owls responded once again in their bottom half of the fourth inning, scoring two runs on back-to-back hits by Brad Patterson and William Stinson to make it 8-6.

Neither team would score again as the Eagles' relievers were strong, seeing Dustin Smith throw two scoreless innings, Jacob Gauvin with a scoreless eighth, and Nolan Dousa, striking out the side in the ninth to notch his fourth save of the season.
