42 Eagles Recognized on the 2019-20 Winter/Spring NAC All-Academic Team

WATERVILLE, Maine - The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) is proud to announce the 2019-2020 Winter/Spring All-Academic Team. Husson athletics saw 42 Eagles earn a spot on the All-Academic squad this year.

In order to be eligible, student athletes must achieve at least sophomore standing and earn a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Further, student athletes must compete in at least two seasons of a NAC sport over two academic years. Member institutions are responsible for identifying eligible student athletes.

Of the 186 student athletes on the 2019-2020 Winter/Spring All-Academic Team, six competed in both a winter and a spring sport. Impressively, forty-six student athletes (25%) matched academic achievement with athletic success, and earned All-Conference honors in their sport - 27 First Team and 19 Second Team. Twenty-one honorees also represented their schools on the NAC Sportsmanship Team for their sport.

The NAC Winter/Spring All-Academic Team recognizes student athletes in winter sports (men's and women's basketball) and spring sports (baseball, softball, men's tennis, men's and women's lacrosse, and men's and women's outdoor track & field). Sport honors are listed for 2019-20 for men's and women's basketball, while spring sport honors reflect the 2019 season.

Ten major sport award winners are counted among the All-Academic awardees, including the 2019-20 Men's and Women's Basketball Senior Scholar Athletes Riley MacLeod (Bucksport, Maine/Maine Maritime) and Nicole Tapparo (Topsfield, Mass./Husson). The list also includes Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Year Andrew Fitch (Melbourne, Australia/SUNY Canton), Women's Basketball Player of the Year Melinda Ogden (Searsport, Maine/Maine Maritime), and Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Year Joan Overman (Washburn, Maine/Husson).
