WATERVILLE, Maine - For the final time in their rookie campaigns, both Bailey Donovan and Scott Lewis were named North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Rookie of the Week. This marks Donovan's tenth and final NAC Rookie of the Week of the 2019-20 season and Lewis' second.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Bailey Donovan, Husson
First-year, C - Island Falls, Maine
Donovan was a powerful force under the glass this week for the Eagles, recording a new career-high of 20 rebounds and six blocks in a victory over UMaine-Farmington. The rookie added 13 points in the effort for her second double-double of the week. She posted her first double-double at Colby in a close 60-56 loss, leading Husson with 19 points, ten rebounds, and five blocks. Donovan helped the Eagles round out regular season action with their first undefeated NAC record (14-0) since the 2009-10 season. She scored the game-winner with less than five seconds remaining against Maine Maritime to break a stalemate and remain undefeated on their home court this season. The 6-3 center finished an impressive week averaging 16.3 points, 13.0 boards, and 3.3 blocks per game while shooting 79.2 percent (19-24) from the charity stripe.
MEN'S BASKETBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Scott Lewis, Husson
First-year, F - South Portland, Maine
Lewis led the Eagles with 11 points and 11 rebounds in a setback against UMaine-Farmington on Friday to collect his second career double-double. The following day, the rookie contributed seven points and three boards in a crucial comeback victory over Thomas that helped Husson secure the #3 seed in the upcoming NAC Championship Tournament. Lewis finished the 2-1 week with an average of 8.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game.
