BANGOR, Maine - Adding on to her slew of weekly accolades, Bailey Donovan stood out among all New England players this past week to be recognized as Co-Rookie of the Week by the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA). She also impressed the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) as she grabbed her sixth-straight and ninth overall Rookie of the Week honor. Another standout first-year basketball player for Husson, Scott Lewis was recognized yet again by the Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association (MMBCWA) with a spot on the Honor Roll.
NEWBA Co-Rookie of the Week and MWBCA Rookie of the Week: Bailey Donovan, Husson (Fy. – Island Falls, Maine)
Donovan was a powerful force under the glass this week for the Eagles, recording a new career-high of 20 rebounds and six blocks in the 56-48 victory over UMaine-Farmington. The rookie added 13 points in the effort for her second double-double of the week. She posted her first double-double at Colby in a close 60-56 loss, leading Husson with 19 points, ten rebounds, and five blocks. Donovan helped the Eagles round out the week with a 90-53 conference win over Thomas to remain undefeated in the NAC (13-0). The 6-3 center finished out an impressive week averaging 14.7 points, 13.0 boards, and 3.7 blocks per game while shooting 71.4% (15-21) from the field.
MMBCWA Honor Roll: Scott Lewis, Husson (Fy. - South Portland, Maine)
Achieving his second career double-double, Lewis led the Eagles in a setback to UMaine-Farmington between his 11 points and 11 rebounds. Contributing to a crucial comeback victory over Thomas, the rookie added on seven points and three boards while finishing out the week shooting 7-for-9 (77.8%) from the free throw line.
