WATERVILLE, Maine - Following an exciting week for men's lacrosse with head coach Mike Craig achieving his 20th career victory to become the program's winningest coach, senior men's lacrosse player Zach Glazier also achieved a career milestone recording his 100th career goal to become just the fourth player to do so. Following his accomplishments, Glazier was awarded North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Player of the Week. Women's lacrosse also had a star player in freshman Mary Cushing this past week as she fired shot of shot into the back of the net to earn the first NAC Rookie of the Week for the 2019 season.
Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week
Zach Glazier, Husson - (Senior, A/M - Winthrop, Maine)
Scoring the team-high in goals in all three contests this past week, Glazier put up a pair of goals in a loss against Colby, then followed up with four goals and two assists to help Husson defeat the University of Southern Maine for the first time in program history. The senior scored with 1:57 remaining in the first sudden-death overtime period to thwart a USM comeback and take a 14-13 overtime triumph in the Eagles' home opener. To finish out a 2-1-week, Glazier helped the Eagles grab their first NAC victory with a 23-1 win over NVU-Johnson by recording seven goals and one assist. In total, Glazier recorded 13 goals with an 85.0% shot on goal percentage. He also recorded three assists, 14 ground balls, and five caused turnovers.
Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week
Mary Cushing, Husson - (Freshman, A/M - Fairfield, Vermont)
Cushing helped Husson grab their first win by putting away five goals and an assist in their home opener against UMaine-Farmington. She also caused five turnovers and grabbed six ground balls in the triumph on their home field. Earlier in the week, Cushing tucked away four goals against the University of New England in Hilton Head, South Carolina for a total of 10 points on the week.
